1st overnight stay in the Hospital

On Monday, April 25, 2011 Cole had his first overnight stay in the hospital. We had been to the ER the day before in Nashville, but Monday morning we were sent to Children's hospital by Ambulance from Cole's doctor's office. We were in the ER for about 3 hours then Cole was admitted for Reactive airway disease.

Here Cole is eating Lunch (Graham Crackers with Peanut Butter) in the ER.

Shortly after being admitted we ordered Cole lunch and Child Life delivered some toys. Both of these items really helped Cole. Below is his picnic lunch on his room floor.

The hardest part if being there was that he was hooked up to monitors and could not move around the room or out of the room. We had to keep him in one corner of the room so he could stay connected. This is easier said than done with any child, even harder for a child on Albuterol, which cause kids to be CRAZY!!! Cole was all over!! Cole did get some visitors. Kelly Shaffer, Danielle and Kate came to visit. It was good for mom, dad and Cole to see new faces. Neetie and Paw Paw also came up so Nate could run home to get stuff to stay the night. They brought all Cole's favorate toys from their house including the Trucks that he would drive back and forth under his bed.

Below is what they did for almost an hour.

Neetie and Paw Paw also bought him a Big Monkey that looks just like little monkey. It has now been added to the collection that he has to sleep with and carry around.

Cole did great Monday night and was ready to be discharged on Tuesday morning.

Below are pictures of Cole showing off his bed! He liked to stand and jump in it.

It sure was scary and hard. I sure hope we do not have to do another overnight stay anytime soon. Hopefully we will have all of this under control soon. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

Easter 2011- Tennessee

For Easter, we went to Tennessee!! Cole did pretty good on the drive down with only about a 20 minute spell of not being happy. The majority of the trip was spent outside of for us in a doctor's office or ER. Cole LOVES the outside. That is all he wanted to do. He really seems to have a great swing. We played a lot of T-ball and Corn hole.

Saturday morning we had to go to an Urgent Care to get a Breathing Treatment for Cole. He was really wheezing. They sent us back with an inhaler, antibiotic (for Bronchitis) and a steroid. Wow does the medicine make him WIRED. He had a terrible time sleeping and we sure were sleepy. We had a WONDERFUL time at Logan's T-ball game. They are the Braves so Amy and I bought Cole and Avery shirts to wear to the game.

Easter Sunday we woke up again early to a sick baby boy! Below is a picture of the kiddos with some Easter items on. As the rest of the family went to Church, Nate, Cole and I headed to the ER. Cole received two more breathing treatments and a chest x-ray. The x-ray came back normal, but he was really wheezing and having a hard time breathing. They discharged us and we headed home. Cole took a good nap and was a great traveler on the way back.
