Maya Rose Baughman is HERE!!

Maya (pronounced Mie-a) Rose Baughman

Well, despite bed rest and literally gallons of water for the entire weekend, Megan's fluid levels were lower at Monday's doctor's visit. Dr. Lautman gave us 2 choices: 24-hours in the hospital with IV fluids and then check again OR deliver a baby. With our concerns about what happened during the labor and delivery of Cole, we were more comfortable with moving forward with delivery. The doctor was fine with this decision as everything else with baby looked great and he did not have reservations about delivering her at 37 1/2 weeks. We were excited to meet Baby Girl Baughman (we had not decided on a name until after she arrived).

We went back to Neetie and Paw-Paw's and got Cole squared away. Then, Megan and I were off to Good Samaritan Hospital to check in at 1:30 in order to prepare for our scheduled 3:30 C-Section. All went smoothly and according to plan with pre-op, C-Section, and recovery (much to the delight of the ultimate planner Megan!).

While in pre-op, Megan's original OB/GYN (who was put out of commission at the end of May due to a surgery and wasn't expected back until the end of June) arrived and surprised us! She told us she would be assisting Dr. Lautman with the surgery. Megan was ecstatic!!

Neetie left Cole with Paw-Paw and headed to the hospital and waited for us during surgery. The C-Section was flawless; it was pretty much the complete OPPOSITE of what we experienced with Cole! Megan did not feel any cutting (besides the normal "tugging" and "pulling" that is expected) and was able to stay awake for the entire procedure. Baby Girl come out crying, much to our delight, and had absolutely NO complications! She scored a 9 on her initial APGAR test and followed with another 9 on test #2 (Cole scored a 1, 4, and 7!). I held Maya for about 85% of the time in the O.R. until it was time to move to recovery. Megan held her from the O.R. to the recovery room. Maya officially arrived at 3:51pm and we were in the recovery room by 4:30ish. I immediately went and retrieved Neetie from the waiting area where she was anxiously anticipating any news about the baby. It was my pleasure to inform her that everything went as planned (Again, this was the opposite of our experience with Cole when I had to inform Neetie and Paw-Paw about the extreme complications that occurred with him).

We spent a peaceful and relaxing 3 hours in recovery with Neetie, much to her great pleasure, getting a majority of the time holding Maya. We were moved to our room on the 13th floor around 8pm where Paw-Paw and Cole were waiting for us. The next 2 hours consisted of Paw-Paw getting his turn with Maya, multiple visits from our great RN's and other specialists, feeding, etc. However, a majority of the time was spent watching Cole as he was introduced to his new little sister! This was comical at times, but what else could we expect with Cole! He wanted to see her, then he didn't. He didn't want to hold her, then he did, then he didn't. He LOVED his disposable camera (although he was confused about why he couldn't immediately see an image of the pic he took) and he took 23 of 27 pics almost immediately. He opened "his" gift TO Maya and then he opened his "gift" FROM Maya. He was super-excited!!

At the end of Day 1 Megan and Maya were doing AWESOME! We were blessed with a TON of well-wishes from family and friends! Cole is struggling to call his sister by her name, he simply wants to call her "my baby sister!" We guess that's our fault since we didn't have a name for her during the entire pregnancy. Oh well, if that is the worst thing going for us on Day 1, then things are pretty good!

Stay tuned for more pics!!

Bed Rest....

Meet my friends for the weekend!!!  After an ultrasound showed I had low fluid on Friday, I have been placed on Bed Rest till Monday morning with the strict order to drink at least a gallon of water a day..  That is a lot of water!!!   I will go back on Monday and get a re check.  If my fluid is low still, then off to the Hospital, if it is up, then I will have to continue the drinking of a gallon a day, but will be off bed rest.  I will also continue getting checked every 3-4 days as well..  WISH US LUCK!!!

Cole is really getting excited about his baby sister and has been helping get everything ready.  When we talk about things like his B-day party, summer activities, etc, he always ask "and my baby sister will be there"?  It is fun to finally be able to say, "yes, she will" :)
I have let Cole pick out a few things for her and he he is posing with a toy for her car seat.

My 31st Birthday was last week and we had a GREAT day!! I got a manicure and pedicure while Cole was at school then took a nap when he did that afternoon! Once Nate got home we opened presents. I got a Turpin Football shirt, Car organizer and a Gift Certificate for a maternity massage- YAY!!!

after gifts we went to Dinner at Koto Steakhouse. It was YUMMY!! We got some pictures before we headed out. Cole took the one below of Nate and I on his own.

Master Trip

This year Paw Paw took Nate and I to the Masters. Cole got to go along for some fun in Columbia South Carolina.

On Wednesday night, we all went to play Putt-Putt. Cole, Nate and Paw Paw all got hole in one's. I just watched :)

Thursday, Paw Paw and Nate heading to Augusta for the Masters as Cole and I headed Urgent Care for Cole. He was a coughing mess. He had an Ear Infection and Nasty sinus congestion. We took it easy in the morning, but spent the afternoon at the Children's Museum.

Friday it was Megan and Paw Paw's turn to head to the Masters while Nate and Cole had a day together. They were BUSY!! They went to Frankie's Fun Park and played all day. They rode go carts, played arcade games, etc. After nap, they went to University of South Carolina to look. They found some tailgating caboose's that Cole LOVED!!!

Saturday was back to Nate and Paw Paw at the Masters and Cole and I to play. We went to the Columbia Zoo for over FIVE hours!!!! He rode a pony. train and Merry Go Round. That was his favorite part of the Zoo, not the animals.

We all had a BLAST!!! I am so glad we got to do this trip!! It was our last trip as a family of 3.

Easter 2012

We did a lot of Easter activities this year. Nate took Cole to the Milford Egg Hunt where Cole had a BLAST and got to meet the Eater Bunny. We also did a fun Easter Egg Hunt at Amy's house with Braden and Ava.

The Sunday before Easter, Neetie and Paw Paw came over and we colored Easter Eggs. Cole enjoyed it much more this year than last year.

We were out of town for Easter, so nothing on Easter Sunday!! We got all our fun in before :)
